The futuristic dome-shaped crown of the 47-storey Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World is easily recognizable in the Shanghai skyline. In fact, it's so iconic that LEGO decided to include it in its Architecture range! The LEGO set was released on January 1st 2018, and like all skyline sets, it represents a city's most famous structures. The buildings included in this set are City God Temple, Longhua Temple, Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World, the Bund, Shanghai World Financial Centre and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. The Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg was also featured by the lovers of those iconic plastic building blocks. The hotel was presented as a 1:270 scale LEGO model as part of the "Floating Bricks" exhibition held in Hamburg's Altona Cruise Centre. After visiting the green heart of the city, one of the contributors, Tim Knickrehm, decided to recreate the city's Radisson Blu hotel. He built his LEGO version in three weeks. The nine segments of the listed building, which are pressed against each other, presented a particular challenge, he said: "The hotel is different from normal skyscrapers, and due to the adjoining panels it is unlike many constructions that make use of LEGO. The facade elements on the front and back were very tricky to construct and it was difficult trying to make the model stable." We think he did a pretty fantastic job at representing the highest hotel in the city!

Once only for China’s political leaders, the historic Radisson Collection Hotel, Xing Guo Shanghai is today open to all. Located in the former French Concession in downtown Shanghai, the modern high-rise hotel building overlooks 28 heritage villas built in the 1920s and 1930s in American, British, French, German, Spanish and other European styles, and is set in seven hectares of lush gardens. The most historically significant is the three-story British-style garden house now known as the No. 1 Building. Built by the British Butterfield & Swire company in 1934, the property was sold to the Chinese government 20 years later and used to receive top Chinese government officials as well as foreign dignitaries. It was also the former residence of former Shanghai mayor Chen Yi and Chairman Mao in the 1950s. Guests at the 190 room hotel are close enough to the buzz of the fashionable boutiques and trendy bars in the former French Concession area, and yet enjoy a tranquil respite.

Situated in the heart of Sydney’s Central Business District, this striking wedge-shaped 1850s sandstone building will certainly give guests an authentic feel of the historic district it’s in. Built in 1856, the original 3-story building was constructed of the iconic golden-hued local Hawkesbury sandstone, a feature shared by many Sydney landmarks built in the 19th century. It was home to John Fairfax & Sons, publishers of The Sydney Morning Herald, for a hundred years until 1955 although an extension building was added between 1922 and 1929. From 1956 to 1997, the building was the headquarters of the Bank of New South Wales which is now known as Westpac. Before it opened in 2000 as the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney, the interior of the building underwent a complete revamp except for the original mezzanine-level offices of Sir Warwick Fairfax and Sir James Fairfax which were restored. The two meeting rooms feature charming fireplaces and polished hardwood panels. The original lavish public hall overlooking Hunter Street now houses Bentley Restaurant and Bar, one of Sydney's most respected restaurants.
