Enjoy the wonders of the deep blue sea from the comfort of dry land in this aquarium that's packed with your favorite water-dwelling animals. Take a stroll through the underwater tunnel and see the amazing tropical sharks for yourself—from a safe distance! There is a wide range of exotic creatures such as lionfish, Porcupine Pufferfish, and the always popular clown fish! It's also home to a number of snappy crocodiles, as well as turtles and frogs, all of which are sure to be hits with the kids. Local sea life is represented here too, with rays, crabs, starfish, and many more finds from the Thames Estuary and the British coastline. Sea Life Adventure is constantly bringing in new exhibits; the newest attraction, "WILD!" has 20 meerkats, three giant African spurred tortoises, and a brand new family of rescue macaques. Add to this perennial favorites such as otters and penguins, and you have hours of entertainment for the family. The staff at the aquarium are passionate about the animals and will happily answer any questions you might have. They host talks about the future of the planet's oceans and other revealing facts about marine life.
Seaside dining
Refuel after your trip around the aquarium with one of the six different food outlets available on the Adventure Island site. Choose the Three Shells Cafe for views of the estuary in a spacious cafe, or the Pavilion Fish and Chip Emporium at the far east end of the park for a traditional seaside meal. The newly restored Clarence Yard restaurant serves lunchtime takeaways and evening meals, while Feelgoods offers live music, an arcade, and American-themed food, including the SHAKES! milkshake bar. Kids will love the Diningsaur Cafe which is, of course, dinosaur themed! Sands by the Sea offers traditional food at excellent prices and is available to rent for weddings and other events.
