Belfast Zoo

At Belfast Zoo you can see more than 1,000 animals over the course of your visit. The zoo is home to more than 130 different species, most of which are currently endangered in the wild. Learn more about the animals by attending scheduled talks or watching a feeding.

Get in touch with your favorite animals 

Daily talks and feeding times give visitors the perfect opportunity to get an even deeper dive into their favorite creatures. Are you eager to learn more about bears, interested in the life of penguins or mad about monkeys? Then make sure you see your favorite animal at feeding time or sit in for one of the professional zookeeper talks. Give the kids an experience of a lifetime Belfast Zoo offers children the chance to tryout a future career in zookeeping with the new Junior Zookeeper Experience. 

Attractions 

Upon entry, check out the Photography Base Camp in the Visitor Center. You can walk on the wild side by posing with a pride of lions or with our closest living relatives, the chimpanzees and gorillas. The Adventurer's Learning Center is the ideal place for visitors to get in a bit of exercise. Potential adventurers can jump on board to cross Crocodile Creek, tunnel through Meerkat Mound or slither to Snake Island at the zoo's prime play area. The Zoovenier Shop is where you'll find all the souvenirs needed to ensure that your visit to the Belfast Zoo is one to be remembered for years to come. 

Where to eat 

The Belfast Zoo has two cosy cafés offering a range of hot and cold food, as well as a variety of tasty snacks and refreshing drinks. The Lion's Den Restaurant and The Treetop Tearoom provide a nice range of food that is sure to be accommodating to guests - all with stunning views of the surrounding areas. The Belfast Zoo staff will gladly organize a picnic lunch for guests upon request. Guests are also welcome to bring your own lunch and dine at one of the zoo picnic areas offering wonderful views of Belfast.

With interactive, discussion-led education, Belfast Zoo is the perfect place to bring your learning to life in a unique and memorable way. Since opening in 1934, Belfast Zoo has raised awareness and understanding of the natural environment and conservation issues via a host of educational programs that meet current curriculum requirements and are suitable for all ages and abilities.
