Oman is blessed with many coral reefs and an abundance of sea life, making diving a popular activity for locals and holidaymakers alike. With spots ideal for both beginners and experienced divers, Muscat is a favorite diving destination.
There are two main bases in Muscat from which you can visit over forty recognized diving sites, including the popular islands of Fahal and Daymaniyat. The waters surrounding the city have few currents and are rich with plankton, which as a result, attract a rich variety of sea life.
Here swimmers can find two small wrecks to explore, but they are not the only ones interested in these sunken treasures. Hundreds of fish and coral formations call these man-made structures home, including the occasional black tip reef shark. The dives can range from 33 to 99 feet, allowing divers to explore the multi-colored corals commonly found on the many reefs that call this paradise home. The dives can also be tailored to each person's experience level and coaching is available from qualified diving instructors.;
