Cruise Ship Terminal

Head to the Cruise Ship Terminal to watch the ships roll in, or to go on interesting trips to the surrounding area. The Cruise Ship Terminal was established in 2003 in the oldest part of Klaipėda, a location where tourists may choose from a wide assortment of entertainment spots. All cruise ships coming to Klaipėda Port are moored at the ''Sea Gate,'' and on their journey into port, they catch sight not only of the reconstructed port entrance but also of the Curonian Spit National park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Growing popularity

The cruise terminal is situated by a medieval city castle in the historic city center. A rotating bridge, built in 1855 with reverted iron trusses, cast iron columns and a manual rotation mechanism, grants ships entry into the port city. The city's popularity with cruise ships has steadily grown since 2003, with around 65 ships currently visiting the city every year. The terminal covers an area of 1.2 hectares and vessels with a length up to 330 meters can be moored there. It accommodates up to 3 vessels at a time, including cruise ships, passenger and roll-on / roll-off ferries.

A warm Klaipėda welcome

Throughout the year, the Cruise Ship Terminal attracts adults and children who welcome the ships into port. Head down to the port when a cruise ship arrives and witness a unique festival of welcome for the new arrivals and the chance to witness these huge, beautiful ships as they moor up. Climb aboard the deck of the ship and take a picture with a sailor, enjoy dance performances and orchestra marches in this feast of color and sound.

Access to a treasure trove of interesting destinations

Take a number of fascinating trips to the towns of the Curonian Spit from the cruise terminal and enjoy an incredible day trip in a natural wonderland. The Spit, a 98 km long peninsular made up of sand dunes and beaches, is protected by UNESCO. Locations that the boats sail to include Smiltynė, Juodkrantė, Preila, Nida, as well as the Lithuanian Maritime Museum, Palanga Amber Museum, Šventoji, and other wonderful locations. All services necessary for tourists are available at the terminal and its approaches: taxis, postal services, telephone and internet-café, currency exchange and ATMs. There are also a range of wonderful souvenir shops, bars and restaurants to explore and enjoy in the area, making a trip to the Cruise Ship Terminal well worth a visit while staying in Klaipėda.
