Vapriikki Museum Center

With a charming location beside the Tammerkoski rapids, Vapriikki museum center offers things to see and do for the whole family. Each year the museum presents exhibitions with varied themes, including history, technology, and natural sciences. Being one of the most popular museums in Finland, the center is home to the Natural History Museum of Tampere, the Mineral Museum, the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame, the Shoe Museum, the Doll Museum and the Postal Museum. Visitors have the chance to dine at the museum restaurant, Valssi, and purchase gifts and souvenirs at the Vapriikki museum shop.

History

The history of the museum dates back to 1880s, and its historic heritage belongs to the old Tampella factory hall. Between 1910s-1920s it was built the largest exhibition hall measuring 100 meters, and in 1996, the building was officially opened to the public for the first time. With approximately 14,000 m2 used for the exhibition of items and different establishments open for the public, the building opened as a museum in the year of 2000.
