Radisson Blu Hotel, Frankfurt generates its own energy thanks to a highly innovative decentralized solution. The hotel is now the first hotel in Europe with a hydrogen fuel cell of industrial size, and the unique installation of the fuel cell technology is the first of its size in a hotel. Radisson Hotel Group and E.ON formed a partnership to apply the use of fuel cell technology for the hotel in Frankfurt. The main aim is to achieve extremely low CO2 emissions, through low noise and an absence of exhaust gases. The new technology is installed outside the hotel, with the produced electricity and heat transferred by cable and pipeline to the respective distribution network in the hotel. This high-tech solution has allowed the hotel to reduce its CO2 emissions by 600 tons per year, which corresponds to the emissions of roughly 50 000 mid-sized cars per 100 kilometers!

Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm is a true pioneer: it's the first Sweden-based building ever to receive the renowned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Not only did the hotel use 100% of the material from the previous building to construct its current premises, but it also uses the surrounding lake for cooling purposes. That's not all: the kitchen here cooks with locally grown and seasonal products focusing on fair and sustainably sourced produce. Stockholm Waterfront also participates in the Radisson Blu towel-reuse program: for every 500 bath towels that the guests choose to reuse, the hotel gives a child safe water for life in cooperation with local charities. To date, Radisson Blu hotels have provided safe drinking water for life to over 22,500 children.

Radisson Blu Hotel Nagpur is the only LEED (Gold) Certified building in the city. And here is why: the pioneering resort is a champion in terms of renewable energy use: 100% of all energy supply is derived from wind power. Plus, solar panels heat the water supply, a tree plantation project was launched on hotel grounds, and the staff regularly coordinates charitable work from clothes and blood donations to supporting local orphanages and woman's rights groups.

Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago, USA

For the construction of Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago the hotel teamed up with eco-conscious architect Jeanne Gang, and as a result, 17% of materials were sourced locally while 92% of all construction waste was recycled. What's more: 50% of Blu Aqua's energy supply comes from renewable sources and green strategies have achieved a reduction of 21% in water use each year as well as an energy reduction of 25%. Additionally, the hotel boasts a magnificent roof garden with 80,000 square feet of native plants, charging posts for electric cars, discount cards for bike-sharing services, and discount parking when carpooling. No surprise then that the Chicago model student received the prestigious LEED (Silver) certification for its green and sustainable efforts.
