Radisson Blu Hotels 'Walk for Water'

How far would you walk for clean water? & Radisson Blu and Just A Drop charity have partnered together for Blu's latest responsible business initiative in Europe, the Middle East and Africa - Blu Planet - which focuses on saving water. However, many people today are unaware of the lengths some most go to just to have access to clean and safe drinking water. & To raise awareness for the one billion people across the globe who do not have access to safe drinking water, many Radisson Blu hotels around the world, along with our corporate offices in Minneapolis, Brussels and Singapore, participated in Walk for Water events that benefited the Just A Drop charity. & Over the course of three days, which began on Earth Day (April 22, 2015), participating Radisson Blu Hotels invited hotel guests to walk for roughly 35 feet/10 meters with ‘jerry cans' full of water to illustrate the daily struggle some one billion people around the globe face in their efforts to access safe drinking water. For every 330 feet/100 meters walked, Radisson Blu donated the funds to provide one child with safe drinking water for life through Just A Drop. & Take a look at these amazing photos and video to see how Radisson Blu guests and employees walked 131 km (81 miles) providing clean drinking water for 1,310 children through the Just a Drop partnership, just by this activity alone!Special Stories from Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo and Walk for Water: Two of our colleagues decided to do something special for Blu Planet. They took the Oslo Plaza Running Club, which they host every morning for our sporty guests, on a special Walk-for-Water route. In their backpacks they carried 20 liters of water, in support of the women and children who carry water every single day. & One of our guests was involved in a serious car accident just last year where his spine and neck were broken in two places. No one thought he would ever be able to walk again. On the 23rd of April, he carried 20 liters of water not only 10 meters, but 100 meters in solidarity with the 700 million people who don't have access to safe drinking water. He said the accident had given him a new perspective on life, and that he was overjoyed to be able to walk for this great cause.
