Why Spring in Seville Should Be Your Next Obsession

When the golden sunlight hit the city inviting us to discover its magic, every corner seemed to glow with color: from the red and yellows of the buildings, to mosaic blue tiles and deep green palm trees and gardens. I spent the first day just walking around taking it all in. Watching musicians unfold their music in the middle of the Plaza, while horses and carriages gently made their way through the streets. Spring in Seville isn’t just a season, it is a celebration. Here is why:

Semana Santa is Seville’s iconic Holy Week celebration, where solemn religious processions with ornate floats, candlelit pathways, and traditional music take over the streets. It feels sacred, like stepping into a living story passed through generations. It is something you can’t see somewhere else in the world, and that alone makes it feel truly special.

Not long after, Feria de Abril brings different kind of magic. Locals dress in traditional traje de flamenco and dance Sevillanas with joy that feels utterly contagious. You can feel their passion for the dance and how deeply rooted these traditions are. While during Semana Santa the streets feel nostalgic, during Feria de Abril they come alive with color, laughter, making it impossible to not get caught up in the festive spirit.

One of my favourite things about this trip was falling into step with the city’s rhythm. Regularly, mornings start with a strong coffee at a sidewalk café, as locals take their time to talk and watch the world go by. In the middle heat of the sun, life paused for siesta, a great reminder that rest is also a part of living well. Evenings come alive again with the sound of laughter over shared tapas – jamon iberico, salmorejo, and grilled prawns, all made better with a glass of Sangria.

Nothing beats the view of the city at golden hour. Sipping a Sangria while watching the city turn gold, and the soft hum of life below made the rooftop feel like the perfect place to relax. Staying at Radisson Collection Seville felt like the perfect choice, placed in the heart of the old town, but offering us a peaceful retreat at the same time.

• The best way to experience Seville is on foot. Walk everywhere, get lost, pause in quiet plazas to take it all in. Don’t rush. Sit at outdoor cafes to watch the life unfold.
• Visit Plaza de Espana early in the morning, before the crowds
• Book a Flamenco show. It is an incredible way to experience the raw emotion and artistry at the heart of Andalusian culture.
• If you can, visit during Semana Santa or Feria de Abril. It’s when the city feels most alive, full of color, music, and emotion.
