This week the colourful, vibrant and unique Battle of the Flowers Festival kicks off Jersey's autumn festivals and events. Here is our guide to the rest of the highlights of what's on in Jersey in the coming months.

The highlight of the music calendar, Jersey Live is the largest music event of the Channel Islands. The enthusiastic 20,000 strong crowd are awaiting this year's much anticipated line up which includes George Ezra, Cast, The Proclaimers, The Vaccines, Circa Waves, Rudimental and more. Jersey International Air Display, formally known as the Battle of Britain Air Display, has been an annual event first staged in 1952. Tens of thousands of residents and visitors join together for the packed programme of events at one of Europe's most impressive free air shows. Enjoy static displays of aircraft and helicopters in the days leading up to the main event. The air show itself will take place at 13:00 on 10th September across St. Aubin's Bay. For the ultimate view, book at table at Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel Restaurant and watch the display from the terrace and bar.

The original concept for Tennerfest was to encourage restaurants across Jersey and Guernsey to offer menus at a fixed price of £10 for a six week period. The festival is hugely popular and now over a hundred restaurants in Jersey take part in the event. All-inclusive menus at a range of prices up to £20 are available across a number of dining establishments including gastropubs, cafés, bistros, restaurants and hotels. Jersey invites you to its first Festival of Words. This literary event has one goal ‘to promote a love of the written and spoken word'. The events are aimed at all ages and will take place in the form of workshops, readings, walks and talks. Local and visiting authors and literary names will descend on Jersey, including Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Holly Smale, Will Smith, Owen Sheers and Simon Barnes.

2014 saw over 2500 elite and amateur runners compete in the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, with a massive 60% of those coming from off the island. The marathon has grown in popularity and attracts runners from far afield to one of the most beautiful race courses in Britain. If you plan to participate, you can choose between three categories: Marathon, Relay, 3km Fun Run.
