Chaminuka Game Reserve

The Chaminuka Nature Reserve was the first private Wildlife Park in Zambia, and over the years has become a home to many species of animals. More than 72 species of wildlife can be found in the park, including elephants, giraffes, spotted hyenas, warthogs, lions, zebras, as well as pukus and kafue lechwes, animals unique to Zambia. Chaminuka is also a great destination for bird watchers, with more than 300 species of birdlife to be spotted in the area. A day trip can take in game drive with a qualified ranger in open top 4 wheel drive Safari vehicle, bush walks, bird watching, or even a Walking Cheetah Experience. Kabwata Cultural Village

This park gives visitors the chance to meet Zambia's native species of lizards, snakes and crocodiles along with other reptiles, from big Nile crocodiles to tortoises. The park has a picnic area and also sells hot food. Round off a day trip to this area with a stop at Lusaka National Museum, Zambia's premier institute for national art and culture, which houses collections related to history, contemporary art, witchcraft and ethnography.

Munda Wanga

15km south of Lusaka is Munda Wanga Environmental Park, a great place for a family day trip from Lusaka. Originally a private garden, Munda Wanga is now home to an Environmental Education Centre, a Wildlife Park and Sanctuary and a Botanical Garden, all open to members of the public of all ages. More than 45 species of animals can be found in the Wildlife Park and Sanctuary. Some species are residents to Zambia, and others have been rescued from poachers or the illegal pet trade. Many of the animals are rehabilitated and released back to the wild. Visitors can book a tour of the Botanical Gardens, which house a mixture of native and exotic plants. A Recreational Village on site allows visitors to relax with food and drink from the bar and restaurant, take part in games and activities, and enjoy a dip in a swimming pool.
