First off you need a quick introduction to Södermalm and the most important thing to learn is that it's called "Söder" by the Swedes, which means "South". Getting there from our Radisson Blu SkyCity Hotel, Arlanda Airport is easy, just hop on board the Arlanda Express to Stockholm Central Station and take the subway to Söder. It's as easy as 1-2-3!

The next thing you need to be aware of is the term "SoFo" which, if you've ever been to San Francisco might sound familiar, means "South of Folkungagatan" and is a very trendy part of town. Enough introductions, it's time to go explore Söder.

There's no reason to rest while in Södermalm as there are plenty of things to see and do. A must for any traveler interested in photography is Fotografiska, a museum and exhibition space dedicated to the art of photography. This is nothing short of a world-class museum and definitely a must. If you're feeling like getting to know all of Stockholm a little better you can head on over to the City Museum, where Stockholm's heritage comes to life in a 17th century palace.

For those looking for great views and a romantic vibe then you need to walk the 500-meter long Monteliusvägen. Here you'll be treated to a stunning view of Lake Mälaren, City Hall and Riddarholmen while walking alongside charming houses. This is the perfect route for a sunrise or sunset walk with your loved one.

In between wandering the streets and people-watching you need to refuel your body with some tasty food. Thankfully Södermalm is chock full of great spots to fill up on some grub, such as Meatballs, serving up both traditional and modern takes on the evergreen classic of Swedish meatballs. How about lamb, rooster or salmon meatballs? It doesn't get more Swedish then this!

If you're looking to experience what a 1900's Swedish tavern felt like you can make your way to Kvarnen, where they dish up Scandinavian specialties. Head there for brunch and you won't regret it but book a table in advance, as this place is popular. For dessert you should stop by StikkiNikki for some fresh and organic homemade Italian gelato. Nicole "Stikki Nikki" Emson is the mastermind behind these tasty treats and serves up fresh gelato every day. Since it's all organic the calories don't count either, so prepare to stuff your face.

Ever heard of the Swedish clog? Of course you have! At Swedish Hasbeens you can get yourself a pair of these 1970's classic wooden shoes, handmade with natural and sustainable materials. Guaranteed to lift your spirits as well as your height. For some more vintage classics you should stop by Modern Retro, where 200 square meters of vintage goodness awaits. This is like the Pearly Gates for any vintage treasure hunter.

From the first weekend of April until the last weekend of October you can head on over to Hornstull Market and shop at a classic flea market abundant with food, antiques, art and design. Dubbed "Stockholm's Nicest Sunday Pleasure" you can't really go wrong here. Don't forget to try the different food stalls and trucks available too. This may be hipster heaven but it's friendly atmosphere makes it suitable for everyone.

As evening falls over Södermalm there's no reason to head home and call it a night, the district is home to several hotspots for you to enjoy while dancing your night away. If you're visiting during the summer you can get the festival feeling at Trädgården, where you'll be drinking from a plastic cup, dancing and watching live performances.
