7 Breathtaking Beaches in Mauritius

Apart from being a great spot for snorkeling, Grand Bay is home to a plethora of water-based activities such as waterskiing, sailing and windsurfing. If you feel hungry or in need of a refreshment there are several stores and restaurants nearby in town. The neighbouring beach is La Cuvette Public Beach. This beach is a little off the beaten track than the other beaches in the area making it less crowded. What makes La Cuvette unique is the choice of “mini beaches”, each one decorated with rocky outcrops. All of this comes wrapped in a tranquil atmosphere. If you bring a ball with you, there are plenty of grassy areas to play football. Following the coastline from La Cuvette to Grand Baie makes for a picturesque walk with a fantastic view. If you visit during the week, chances are you won't be just another face in the crowd as the beach is not as developed as the others. Go for a run by the water or join a game of football along with the locals. Either way you'll be glad you came.

Close to the Bras d'Eau National Park, this public beach is a hidden lagoon perfect for a picnic and lounging in the sun. Its rocky waters make swimming difficult but instead you can enjoy the many flying fish soaring across the surface. Fill your picnic basket with fresh fruits, tasty sandwiches, some refreshing drinks and head out for a fun day in the sun. Slip into your most comfortable swimwear and indulge in the silky smooth beach of Pereybère. With little to no coral in sight this pearl on the northern coast is a fantastic location for any swimmer.
