5 adventures for young and old on Mauritius

1. A sweet adventure

L'Aventure du Sucre translates into ‘the adventure of sugar' and is the Sugar Museum's official name. It's a convenient 25-minute drive from our Radisson Blu Azuri Resort & Spa, Mauritius, and offers an interactive adventure fit for the entire family. It's housed in an old factory complete with vintage machines and modern films that will immerse visitors in a unique environment. Children and adults are invited to take an interactive tour and make their way through the different parts of the museum, including displays on the sugar-making process, sugar cane stands, and exhibits on the sugar and rum routes. Make sure to pick up a children's tour booklet which features puzzles and games for kids ages 7 to 12.

2. Leisurely walks

Take a stroll through the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens which are home to hundreds of plant varieties like giant water lilies and majestic baobabs. The gardens have been around for more than 300 years and originally served as private grounds for the French governor of the island. Venture on your own, or request a tour from one of the savvy local guides. Make sure to stop by the water lily pond, where you'll find an amazing display of floating flowers with leaves that can measure over 6 feet across.

3. A date with nature

While the Crocodile & Giant Tortoises Park and Nature Reserve is fun to explore at any time of day, the crocodiles are fed on Wednesday and Saturday at 11:30 so this is the recommended time to visit. If you're feeling brave you can get up close and personal with the giant tortoises by feeding, petting, and playing with them. Children can enjoy play time in the park's Jungle Adventure Playground.

4. Glass Bottom Boat to Blue Bay Marine Park

Stay on board and admire the corals, fish, and reef from the comfort of the boat or take in the area's colorful underwater plant and animal life while snorkeling. Blue Bay Marine Park is home to a variety of fish, sea grass, coral, mangroves, and more. Keep your eyes on the boat's glass floor and you'll be treated to views of some of the most stunning creatures and plants the bay has to offer.

5. Casela World of Adventures

There's something for all ages and personalities at this park. Spend your time zooming across zip lines, getting a closer look at area wildlife on a safari, or cooling off in one of the hidden swimming spots among the many canyons. The Casela World of Adventures, which spans 14 hectares, is also a zoo and has 1,500 birds along with monkeys, hippos, zebras, and giant tortoises. A trip to the dry forest section and its beloved Black Ebony tree is a memorable educational experience for the whole family.
