Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo - TripAdvisor traveler rating

We had a fantastic stay at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel during our recent family trip to Norway. First, a huge shout-out to Erik at the reception desk. He greeted us warmly and professionally from the moment we arrived, immediately making us feel welcome. When we commented on his flawless English, he told us he was born in Texas! On top of his warm hospitality, Erik gave us excellent, practical advice: he explained the easiest route to wheel our luggage over to the Oslo S train station next door and told us exactly where to locate our platform for our morning train to Bergen. He also told us how to get to Aker Brygge, and he recommended "The Top"—the hotel’s rooftop bar and restaurant—which turned out to be really, really good. (I'm writing a separate review for that.) We booked a family room for three adults looking to save a bit of money. While the room was slightly compact—quite standard for Scandinavian hotels—it was spotlessly clean, very nicely appointed, and perfectly comfortable. We all agreed the beds, linens, and pillows gave us a great night’s sleep, and there were plenty of towels for everyone. The heated bathroom floor was a big plus! For us, the location couldn’t be better: right downtown and literally next door to Oslo S station. Taking the Flytoget airport express train from Oslo Airport to Oslo S and strolling over to the hotel was a piece of cake—even with our wheelie suitcases. Whatever you do, do not skip breakfast at the Radisson! Nothing's cheap in Norway (in my opinion), but the buffet at the Radisson is MUCH better (and relatively economical) for eating in downtown Oslo. The buffet spread is incredible: mini Dutch pancakes (the wonderfully poofy ones!), fresh jams, smoked salmon and pickled herring, meats, cheeses, made-to-order omelets, porridge, scrambled eggs, sauteed veggies, fresh-squeezed orange juice, pastries, and much, much more. A special mention goes to our wonderfully attentive server (I believe his name was Henrik—at least I'm sure it starts with an 'H'). Having worked at the hotel for over 30 years, he kept our hot coffee pot filled, was warm and personable, and kindly gave us a heads-up 30 minutes before breakfast ended. (Tusen takk, Henrik! After thinking about it, I'm pretty sure you served me back in 2011 when I stayed at the Radisson while working in Oslo!) Overall, an wonderful stay—so great that we stayed there again when we returned to Oslo a week later. And the reason we stayed there this time was that I had such a wonderful experience there when I used to work in Oslo. Fact is, I will never stay in another hotel when I'm in Oslo—the Radisson Blu Plaza is the only place for me!

The Hotel location is good. Hotel Room allotted to me and my wife was spacious and the inner decor was very pleasing. The Bed was also Big and comfortable.The room was provided with Electronic safe (Locker), Electric press with Pressboard, Flat screen TV,Electric Kettle,Hair Dryer etc.Hot & Cold water in washroom, Body lotion too. The view outside from the Room is also good. The Hotel has a restaurant Betula which is opposite the reception area where we had our complimentary breakfast.It is spacious with comfortable seating. However the plates are small - maybe the hotel people infer that holding a small plate is easier as of less weight and the customer may go for second or third servings if needed. In my view, the larger plates are better as it is more convinient for the customer to take variety of food in one serving and enjoy the breakfast. We found the reception to be very responsive and Polite.

We pick this hotel because it is just a stone throw away from the trwin station. Also it is just a walking distamce to the Royal Palace, National Museum, National Theather and shops. The staff are helpful and attentive. Will be back soon.

The room was spacious. The location was excellent. The staff were all very friendly, especially Ai Ting, whose smile was incredibly warm.

A very busy modern hotel in a great location for the city centre and rail station. Very well appointed room with all you need. Breakfast is extremely busy ,but there is a lot of options including a separate gluten free section
