I visited Rīga and Latvia for the very first time back in 2006 when I was just 18 years old. We stayed at this hotel, the Reval Hotel Latvija, as it was named at that time, before it became a Radisson Blu hotel. It’s almost 18 years ago now and it really puts some age on me but I still can remember how much I enjoyed it back then as a teenager and how it was one of the first luxurious hotel experiences of mine.
I have been to Rīga about 30-40+ times at least since then and I even worked and lived there for almost a year in the mid 2010's and I have have stayed at the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference and Spa Hotel, which is the current name, many times throughout the years and I have always had a great time and having also stayed in about 20 other hotels in the Latvian capital over the course of the last 17+ years I would say that this is probably the best hotel in the whole of Latvia.
This latest time was a late summer visit in the last days of August and I stayed in a superior room at the 19th of the total 26 floors and I was lucky to get a really nice room that had the legendary and famous panoramic view of the whole city towards Vecrīga - the old town - and the river Daugava. Excellent stylish top modern and innovative beautiful design and decorative room. Two great big very comfortable and lovely double beds and equipped with a modern big screen smart TV with many TV channels from a lot of different countries in the world and the one thing that I absolutely loved was that there was a built in Chromecast in the TV so you could connect with your iPhone and stream your own content to the hotel TV. Impeccable WiFi connection and great speed too. There was also a comfortable and good looking mini sofa chair in the Barcelona style in the room too.
Bathroom also really great with a shower and bath tub combination and it was even an extra long version of the bath tub that allowed me, who happens to be quite tall at 198 cm - to lay down completely, so you can really enjoy yourself and relax in the tub and it’s also an indicator of the quality of the hotel - as it is only the best hotels that have these type of extra long bath tubs. Then there was the famous Radisson Blu toiletries and they even had that wonderful Gingko Biloba body lotion which I absolutely adore. There were also two complimentary bottles of water and bathrobes and slippers.
The location of the hotel is excellent right in the center of the city right next to the beginnings of the main boulevard and main street - Brīvības Bulvarīs, Brīvības iela (Freedom Boulevard/Freedom Street) - it is very strategic and convenient for easy access to all parts of town. The bus stop right outside is Esplanade and the freedom monument is located maybe 300 meters away from the main entrance of the hotel. Vecrīga - the old town begins right there as well less than 500 meters away as well and you’ve got the Centraltīrgus - the central market - and Centrālā Stacija - the Central Train Station - a short distance away with short less than 10 min walk too. It’s a lot of restaurants in the proximity of the hotel and the hotel’s own restaurant and sky bar at the top 26th floor is incredible. There is also many shops nearby and the Galeria Riga mall is just across the street. With a big RIMI Supermarket inside. There is also Voodoo in the basement of the hotel which is both the largest casino in the Baltics and a very nice and popular nightclub which is also well known and frequented by locals too which is well worth a visit. Well connected with many different bus and wire bus/cable car and tram stops nearby including the major interchange bus stop Ģertrūdes iela about one block away from the hotel.
I would really recommend the Radisson Blue Latvija Conference and Spa Hotel for everyone who wants to have a guaranteed great hotel experience every time where you know you’re going to get real value for your money and where they treat each guest equally nice without discrimination and with respect. I have been coming to this hotel and stayed here several times for over 15 years and I have always had a great time. I have been to at least 20+ other hotels in Rīga including three other Raddison Blu hotels of the now in total five Radisson Blu hotels in Rīga but nothing compares to this place. Paldies, thanks for great hospitality provided over the past 15 years!
