We ate at Carsten’s whilst staying in the Park Plaza Victoria Hotel in Amsterdam. Normally, when we travel we go out to eat but we decided to stay in as we had got drenched already in a rain storm. Carsten’s really impressed us. All the staff were friendly, and helpful. Thanks to Pedro, Marika and Anais who looked after us throughout the evening so that our meal was perfectly paced. Special thanks to David who took our order, dealt admirably with my non-standard allergies, was clearly very conversant with and proud of the food menu but also knowledgeable about the drinks - and told about us the history of jenever, as well as just being very friendly and professional. The staff were a huge part of a really lovely evening. The food was also very good. I had the herb-crusted salmon, which was beautifully hot and perfectly cooked and my partner had the pork belly which he said was incredibly tender. He also had the Heavenly Mud (that’s the translation from the Dutch apparently which he really enjoyed. In summary, we thought we would have a regular hotel chain meal, but ended up with a first class dining experience that felt really special. Would highly recommend.
