My daughter and I were looking for clean ingredient, yummy comfort food while staying in Athens and found it at It. Located in a nice, walkable neighborhood with a beautiful, peaceful, natural light filled interior, It turned out to be the perfect place to take a break, unwind and enjoy the best food we had in our week in Athens (actually the best food we’ve had anywhere ever). Had we found It sooner we would have had a meal there every day. We loved It so much and there were many options on the menu that appealed to us as a vegan (me) and an omnivore (daughter). We had dinner there 2 nights before we left for home and came back the next night -our last night- because we enjoyed it so much. Both nights I had the Portoburger + Sweet Potatoes and my teen daughter had the Black Angus Grass Fed Fillet + Grilled Vegetables (roasted sweet potatoes & broccoli). We were encouraged to try other recommended items from the menu and we were tempted, but these were so good we couldn’t imagine missing out on them one last time. The portobello burger is served on a perfectly baked crisp exterior, soft & chewy interior roll. The marinade is tangy and savory, beautifully complimented with avocado cream, crispy onions & leak jam. The sweet potato fries melt in your mouth. So so good. My daughter said the fillet is the best she’s had eating out. Perfectly prepared/seasoned as are the roasted sweet potatoes (once again melt in your mouth) and broccoli that accompany it. The second night we tried their house baked sourdough (with olive oil & olives) to start and that was exceptional: crisp exterior and wonderfully tasty interior. We saved a lot of it for the plane home and were deeply satisfied enjoying it there. We also had their packaged brownie & rocky (a nutty blondie) for the plane and they did not disappoint. Worth mentioning is the Thema Sauvignon Blanc I savored both nights and my daughter had their sparkling grapefruit soda and ginger beer. I tried both and can say they were delicious, lightly sweet and fully flavored from nature. Service was quietly attentive and on point. I’m sad to not have access to It now that we’re home in Los Angeles, CA but grateful for the experience and comfort of it while we are away. I am confident had we had more time in Athens It would have proved my assertion that everything on their menu is exceptional. I am going to crave It forever.
