This legendary riverside hotel is located on the opposite side of Riga Old Town. We have visited so many times the Old Town that on this trip we decided not to go there. If you want to go there, I would choose a different hotel. There are three other Radisson hotels located on that side.
We have stayed at this hotel 20 years ago. After that, there has become a new wing with balcony rooms. The ones facing the river are Junior Suites, Suites, and one Presidential Suite. The rooms in this wing have been recently renovated.
From the January Sale, we booked a Junior Suite. The price was just 93 euros. It was a flexible rate including breakfast. On arrival, we were upgraded to a Suite because my partner is a Radisson Premium member.
There are 9 floors. We got our suite from the 8th floor. Suites are located at the ends of the new wing. Junior suites are in the middle. At our end, there was a new apartment house blocking some of the views. On lower floors, the blockage would have been bigger.
Our suite #811 was modern and spacious. However, the small living room without television was not very inviting. It was more for extra beds. So we spent our time mostly around the big dining table. The bathroom was quite small for a suite bathroom. The shower was in the tub. According to the floor plan, the other suite #801 on our floor had a much bigger bathroom.
The breakfast was pleasantly calm. The buffet was not as wide as at Radisson Elizabete but enough for us. Warm items could be ordered a la carte. The omelet was better here.
