Visited Jersey for the first time as a 60th birthday treat for my wife. I booked a panorama suite which gave us views over Elizabeth Marina and Elizabeth Castle.
The room was very spacious and comfortable, with a king size bed, and a seperate seating area with 90 degree views. The bed had a very heavy duvet on it which in the warmth of the week was a bit overkill, however this was changed on request after the first night for a much cooler one.
The facilities of the hotel are excellent although we didn't make use of the leisure side of things such as the gym and the pool. We ate in the bar area on two nights and the experience was very good, with prompt service and tasty meals.
Breakfast was buffet style, which suited us as we could pick and choose what we wanted and how much. We found that we generally had enough at breakfast to last us through the day!!
Check in was very smooth, with a lot of information provided, and free parking was included for the duration of our stay. There was also free wi-fi which was surprisingly fast for a hotel.
Housekeeping was very good with the room being well serviced and kept very clean.
Any downsides? My wife is a tea-a-holic and I take more sugar than I should and it didn't seem to get through to housekeeping that the reason we were asking every evening was because there were never enough tea bags and sugar each day. We ended up taking some from the restaurant at breakfast to keep up with demand!
The hotel, having a large selection of meeting areas, tended to get very crowded in the bar/breakfast/lounge areas, however there we always managed to find somewhere to sit.
Is it value for money? The cost of the suite was probably not excessive for what was provided - I could have booked a cheaper room which would no doubt have been just as acceptable. What we paid for was the glorious views from the panoramic windows, the light spacious room and the excellent service received all over the hotel.
Verdict. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Radisson, the accomodation, the staff, the facilities and the food were all of a high standard, and yes, when we go back to Jersey we will most likely stay there again.
