My husband and I spent three days at this historic hotel in the midst of old town, and we could not have been happier with our choice. The hotel dates back to the 1300’s and its location is wonderful. The hotel is situated between the river and a quiet, beautiful street that is a two minute walk away to the Christmas markets in one direction, and the birthplace and home of Mozart just minutes away in the other. We were warmly greeted upon our early arrival, however, there was a glitch with our room, which the hotel manager immediately rectified. We appreciated his prompt courtesy and we were extremely happy with the lovely room we moved to. Breakfast is not included with the cost of the room, but I highly recommend it. The huge variety of breakfast items offered and the beautiful presentation make it a wonderful way to start your day. Especially when you are sitting in a lovely room overlooking the river. I appreciated that the servers immediately provided small pots of coffee or tea, and my husband was happy to learn he could order eggs cooked to order as part of his breakfast as well. I have to comment on the ladies who oversaw the dining room and who served us. They always greeted us with smiles, were genuinely welcoming , and provided impeccable service. A thank you to all of them for a warm and happy start to our day. Actually, I have to thank all the staff who we interacted with. The manager, the reception staff, and the staff in the bar/Café were all happy to welcome us and to provide whatever service they could to make our stay more enjoyable. I have to give a special thank you to Mohammed, who was so helpful in transporting our luggage in and out of the hotel, and who was always standing by with a smile, willing to assist us in any way he could. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Radisson Blu Altstadt and hope we are able to return one day.
A very central hotel in the old town of Salzburg with walking distance to everything, and right next to the city bus stop if you are going to the new town, the station or elsewhere. Charming rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast
We chose this hotel for its location within the old town and close to the Christmas market. From the moment we crossed the threshold we were impressed by the traditional grandeur of the hotel decoration. The room (standard) was huge. Separate toilet and a bathroom with his and her sinks. A seating area overlooking the river abd the bridge from the Sound of Music. Elegant dining room with silver service servers and that was just for breakfast. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgable. They ordered a cab on our last day. Overall a great hotel. Woukd definitely stay again. .
A great 4 day stay . I had read some reviews just before we left for Salzburg boy was nervous arriving. We had an horrendous trip over so was pleased to arrive 9hours later than we should have to a friendly face at reception . We checked in then up to our room which more than we expected we went straight to sleep. The next morning we started our Salzburg breaking a welcoming breakfast and welcoming staff. A varied buffet which had everything for any continental visitor to choose from. We went out exploring it was the 2nd day of the Christmas market which cover lots of different markets all so close to the hotel also a great range of shops around too so many to choose from. The fortress is a 5/ 10 minute walk to the funicular. All popular museums were so close. Bridges over the river took you to the rest of the attractions. The Alstadt has a cafe which you can use as a late bar too. All staff were very helpful . They printed out our boarding cards . We read about the large heavy key you just hand it in. We had this in Rome so it didn't phase us. We were on floor 2 with a lift to get us there. Would we recommend this hotel we definitely would
The staff was very friendly. The room was comfortable, clean and stylish. Location is perfect, in center of the Old city by quite environment. The breakfast was very varied. And the most pleasant staff in the hotel was Kastriot.
