lovely hotel very high 30 floors we were on 19th lifts very good even at breakfast. Nice room overlooking the highway but we were not disturbed by it at all. As part of a Wendy wu tour we were only in this hotel for 2 nights but it was very clean and no smell of smoke, the bed was big and comfortable and there was some storage but not loads, enough for a couple of nights, but again no safe. Breakfast was very good with lots of western options to choose from. We spent a little time in hotel bar on our last night service was very slow and drinks expensive, the hotels are on a 10% service charge to drinks bill. Hotel location was not very central so to go into Shanghai a taxi would be needed.
4 diamond hotel but actually this was one of my nicest hotels I've stayed at. Fast efficient check in and check out. Reception is well staffed and its smooth. 6 fast elevators is a nice touch, I hate waiting around. Executive room is big. Huge comfortable bed, soft pillows, sofa and chairs. I had 5 excellent sleeps. Superb shower which gets hot quickly and a good bathtub, but a touch small. The toilet is in a separate room and it's high tech heated Japanese style toilet. The view from the room is very cool with the inter winding roads. It seemed that there would be traffic noise but actually I didn't hear anything. Room has everything you'd expect, decent instant tea&coffee. A pod coffee machine. Slippers, dressing gowns etc all that stuff. Shanghai rules mean if you want toothbrush you need to request it specifically which is a little annoying. If you want room service a robot brings it to your room which is cool. Cleaning was a high standard and I couldn't see any issues. Location might be a problem to some. 1 KM from line 2 or line 10. That was fine for me but maybe not to others. Tons of F&B around including Lotus Indian restaurant. I didn't have breakfast included so no comment on it. Cost was 399 per night (no breakfast) Yili Road metro or Loushanguan Road. Can get to Hongqiao train station or airport in 15 mins
This is the first time I have stayed here since it was refurbished and renamed, and I have to say it is a great improvement. I much prefer it to the old Rainbow Hotel that was really tired. The new decor is contemporary, bright and airy and has been done to a very good standard. I have been to a few hotels in this area, and I would say it is now by far the best in he area. There are three nice bars off the lobby area and a cocktail bar on the 30th floor, although that was always empty when I tried it. Staff are friendly, food is great, and I have to say I had the best Cappuccino I have ever had anywhere in the world in the lobby cafe. Will definitely stay again on my next trip and have been converted from the Radisson New World on Nanjing Road West. See you soon!
