Old Botanical Garden

Take a stroll through this historic set of gardens owned by the University of Göttingen established in 1736. Over an area of approximately 4.5 hectares, the garden boasts an extensive scientific collection of plants, some of which date back to 170 years ago. To give you an idea of how large the collection of plants is; there's about 14,000 species in total. The gardens feature eight greenhouses, plus a system of tunnels that connect the inner and outer parts of the complex. Relax in the shade under the trees or marvel at the tropical greenery on show, as well as the magnificent orangery. Enjoy a coffee and cake at the superb Café Botanik, and relish a perfect place to relax among nature. If you're planning on holding an event in Göttingen, the greenhouse, which can accommodate up to 130 people, makes a unique venue choice.
