Opera in Muscat is synonymous with the Royal Opera House. One of only two such houses in the region, the Royal Opera House is one of the musical and cultural centers of the Sultanate of Oman and a popular attraction in the city. Even if time doesn't allow for an evening watching a show, this beautiful building is a sight worth seeing. With the allure of a grand palace and intricate detailing, all the way to the ceiling, a walk through will make you feel like royalty.
Attending a show
The Royal Opera House opened in 2011. Located in Shatti Al Qurum district, this impressive structure was built in contemporary Omani style and has a capacity of 1,100 people. It is the first of its kind in the world to feature the Radio Marconi multimedia interactive display seat-back system, providing the audience with an unrivaled experience. This iconic venue regularly hosts performances from some of the world's leading classical artists, such as Jose Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
