Abundant sunshine, immaculate greens and affordable prices are just a few reasons why so many visitors choose to golf in Marrakech. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, you can take a swing in one of the city's relaxing courses. Caddies are required at all golf courses here, so factor this cost on top of your green fees.
Greenery in the desert
The Al Maaden course was designed by Kyle Philips and features views of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, along with challenging rectangular water hazards. Play the course's 18 holes along its 6429 meters, or take advantage of the scenery by relaxing in the open-air Clubhouse.
The Palmeraie Golf Marrakech course is conveniently located about 20 minutes away from the Medina Quarter. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, the swanky Palmeraie will test the skills of even world-class athletes with its surprise bunkers and watery traps.
Perhaps the most famous course in Marrakech is the Royal Golf Club, which dates back to the 1930s and was a favorite spot of King Mohammed IV. The club offers narrow fairways that require a high level of accuracy for a challenge, along with a cool and calm clubhouse and café. It's a bit over 5,900 meters in length with a flat terrain, easily navigated on your day out.
Golfing for all levels
Do you need to brush upon your golfing skills before you tackle the course? The Samanah Country Club is home to a David Leadbetter golf academy to help you improve your swing. With large bunkers, attractive cactus landscaping and desert traps, the Samanah provides a uniquely challenging experience for golfers. It's the first development of the new "Marrakech Golf City", situated ten miles outside of Marrakech.
If you don't have much time on your hands or are looking for a pleasant way to pass an afternoon, try visiting the nine-hole course at Atlas Golf Marrakech. The expertly manicured green is well worth a visit in itself as the the course feels more like a botanical garden at times than a golf course. Designed by Alan Prait, the Atlas features split level greens and water features to improve your skills.
