Visit the Shanghai location of the beloved Walt Disney Parks. The park just opened in 2016 and is already very popular, immersing visitors in imaginative themed areas that Disney is known for.
Areas of the park
Shanghai Disneyland's castle is the centerpiece of the park, as is tradition with Disney parks. Named the Enchanted Storybook Castle, the castle represents every Disney princess and is the tallest castle of all the Disney parks. The colorful palace has several special experiences within its walls, such as character greetings, meals with characters, and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique—a royal spa treatment for kids. Shanghai Disneyland has seven areas, each with a unique theme. Mickey Avenue is the main street by the entrance to the park with shops, food, and a huge Mickey Mouse fountain. Stroll through the Gardens of Imagination to see a variety of beautiful gardens all tied in to Disney themes such as zodiac signs represented by Disney characters. You'll find some rides in the area, including the Disney classic, Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Adventurous fun like ropes courses or the Roaring Rapids raft ride can be found in the Adventure Isle section of the park.
For a completely pirate-themed area, visit Treasure Cove. Rides and restaurants feature pirates and mermaids. Head to Tomorrowland for a futuristic theme. Many exciting rides are in this section, with a favorite being a Buzz Lightyear-themed laser-shooting game. In Toy Story Land, everything is based off of the Toy Story movie franchise. The biggest section of the park is Fantasyland, which ties in rides with all sorts of classic Disney stories and characters like the Little Mermaid or Winnie the Pooh.
Visiting the park
One of Shanghai Disneyland's biggest draws is the huge collection of rides. You'll find everything from a gentle carousel to a thrilling TRON-themed roller coaster. Take advantage of the Fastpass system to ensure you make it on all the rides you choose.
Plenty of food options are available to try throughout the park, from quick snacks to fine dining. For extra fun, try a themed restaurant or dine with Disney characters. There are plenty of shops to explore as well, where you can find the perfect Disney souvenir or do some shopping with big brands like Adidas, Swatch, or Lego.
Kids can meet their favorite Disney characters and collect signatures in an autograph book. Parades happen throughout the day at the park and are a great way to catch a glimpse of your favorite characters along with elaborate floats. Enjoy a variety of shows throughout the park, including musicals, plays, or even sing-alongs. Catch the ever-popular nighttime shows which typically include impressive fireworks displays and light shows along with Disney characters.
