Palais Kaufmaennischer Verein

The Palais Kaufmännischer Verein events center opened in 1898, in a prominent location in the heart of Linz. The building boasts luxuriously fitted halls and rooms for ten to 1,800 people alongside office spaces, which were originally used as the seat of the Chamber of Commerce. The stylish Baroque interior has been equipped with cutting-edge congress technology and can now accommodate all manner of prestigious events in the city. Thanks to its outstanding infrastructure and position in the state capital, the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein enjoys recognition across Upper Austria. Over more than 1,600 square meters, it provides the perfect venue for events such as academic congresses, glittering black-and-white balls, or even a baronial wedding. All halls - in the traditional house as well as in the modern extension - are fully air-conditioned and equipped with the latest event technology.

"In arte voluptas" - in art there is pleasure

The Palais Kaufmännischer Verein, formerly the merchant club house, was built from 1896 to 1898 by architect Hermann Krackowizer and master builder Ignaz Scheck. In 1945, the building was partially destroyed by bombing. However, in 1952 the two halls were restored in style. As the original tenants, the local men's Schlaraffia continue to use rooms in the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein to this day. The Latin motto of the international association, whose declared goal is to uphold friendship, art and humor, can also be applied as the motto for the area in general: "In arte voluptas," - in art there is pleasure. Within the building, itself steeped in tradition, the artistic design of the Baroque halls creates a celebratory atmosphere for all kinds of events in Linz, and contributes to their success. Meticulous preparation, professional organization and the provision of food and drink upon request leave nothing to be desired, ensuring that guests are free to dedicate themselves entirely to enjoying their festivities.
