Bernardo Philippi, was the colonizing agent for Germany in Chile and was responsible for recruiting immigrants from Europe. Children will have great fun on the winding maze of passages that lead the way, and you'll enjoy the peace and varying vegetation the area offers. Birders will enjoy spotting the various species that make their home here. Ascend to the viewpoint, which is 30m high, and you'll be rewarded by fantastic views over the entire city, Lake Llanquihue and the Calbuco, Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes. At this high point is the Monumental Cross, which is illuminated at night, and is a popular attraction in the city. You can get to this small and quiet park easily from the center of the city; it lies close to the Cultural Center and the Tattersal Shopping Mall.
